Also, any hotel near the convention center deals with the trolley and train ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT! I can't tell you how many of my colleagues had sleepless nights because of that alone! Other great things to note about Hotel Indigo are that it's pet-friendly (although I only saw dogs), they have great specials throughout the week, and the stadium (Petco Park) is just a block away! They do offer valet parking for $35 a day but there is street parking available some times, too, just beware you're on the right side due to street cleaning! (San Diego is so clean!) All in all- a wonderful spot. Love that! Now, to compare this hotel to say, Hard Rock, near the convention center is almost unfair! It's literally like night and day. The bartenders/servers Adriana, William, Ish- all fo them- make you feel welcome, take the time to listen to what you like and make the best drink recommendations based on what you offer up. Same goes for the bar/restaurant, Table 509. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure you have everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Now, after the stay is complete, I consider myself lucky!! First, this hotel is bright and cheery. At first, when looking on the map and seeing where the hotel was located compared to the hotels that were closer to the convention center, I was worried it would be too far away. I went to San Diego for work and was placed in Hotel Indigo. I never felt unsafe in this area as well.I went to San Diego for work and was placed in Hotel Indigo. The bell staff are usually on hand to grab you a taxi should you need one. I'd say the convention center is about a 10 minute walk. As a New Yorker, I pride myself in walking everywhere. You are less than 5 minutes away from Petco Park and there are numerous bars and restaurants within walking distance. The area: This property is located in the area of San Diego known as the East Village. Second, I like my room on the warmer side and unfortunately the heat didn't generate well as it kept blowing cooler air. I heard the elevators in motion constantly during the day and night. I only had two small issues, which I didn't feel the need to address the staff about since they weren't very important, but soundproofing isn't amazing. I love the hardwood floors, which are probably easy to clean, and there are more than ample amenities given in the bathroom. Depending on the floor and where you are situated, there may not be the best of views. The room I had featured a king bed, and was pretty spacious. There is a lobby bar and also a bar on the 9th floor. It was nice that when entering or leaving, someone always acknowledged that. ![]() Upon entering, the bell staff and the front desk staff were friendly. This hotel is not a massive one, featuring less than 20 floors. ![]() The hotel: Great property for those looking for a bargain and a great location.
